They memed onto it so hard that Jagex

Old School Runescape, the antiquated model of Runescape that still looks and plays like the match I sank countless hours into when I actually should've RuneScape gold been studying, is getting a raid. Its next raid, as it happens: The Theatre of Blood. A good raid requires good rewards, so when the Theatre of Blood was announced late last year, players were anxious to find out exactly what clearing the multi-man challenge would earn them. Jagex responded with Justicar armor, a new best-in-slot armor place (above). There was one small problem: gamers absolutely hated it.

They memed onto it so hard that Jagex is currently totally changing the armor's design. Almost all of Old School Runescape's updates undergo player polls, but that is the first time that the suit of armor has been forged in a passion of memes.

The irony is that while players loathed the'closing' armor revealed earlier this year, they adored the prototypes revealed when the raid was declared. Originally, the Justicar armor was part of a trio of armor sets, West tells me, but as the Theatre of Blood moved from vague concept to real content, the armor shifted with it. Players said there was sufficient DPS gear but insufficient tank gear, so it had been narrowed down to just one armor set. And if they were only going to use one group, Jagex figured they might as well make a new one based on the armor worn by the raid's huge poor.

"We believed changing it a bit made sense," West says,"but players were not quite on board with all the first proposal we shared stream. And then, well, Reddit went wild."

The memes came out hard and quick. Others thought the new armor did not seem tanky enough and liberally provided some alternatives, with some calling for a more extreme redesign.

It got so bad that a few players began to seriously feel a meme that the upgraded armor was by another artist, which the artist that made the prototypes had abandoned Jagex. But then something amazing occurred. Even as memes blotted out sunlight, gradually but surely severe suggestions began to shine through. It started with crude Photoshop tasks, but soon proper examples and fan buy runescape mobile gold art began to crop up. Players rallied around the notion of a bulkier, blessed armor set motivated by the Runescape god Saradomin, so they moved back to West's prototype designs and made some changes.

And after that, a hero emerged: legend_arts, a gifted and famous Runescape fan artist. Inspired by the memes and motivated by elements of West's designs along with other players' suggestions, legend_arts created a hybrid armor layout so good it not only silenced the memes, it captured the attention of West himself.
